We are delighted to be able to introduce the nationwide Deutschland Semester Ticket for the 2024/25 winter semester. To make use of it, click on the link above and enter your StudIP login details. The Germany Semester Ticket is available as a digital ticket and a chipcard.
The digital ticket can be accessed by using the red button above or clicking on this link. You will need to login with your university issued login (the same one you use for Stud.IP). Afterwards you can either use the ticket via the webpage that is shown to you, or you can add your ticket to your digital wallet (Google Wallet or Apple Wallet) on your phone. The wallet tickets should automatically refresh themselves with each semester. If not, you can readd the ticket to your wallet and refresh it that way.
If you can’t use the digital Germany Semester ticket you can apply for a chipcard. Please note that with the shipping of the chipcard, your digital ticket will be locked automatically and you may not access the digital ticket again. The chipcards are produced and mailed by Digital H. The production might take up to 4 weeks.
The Deutschland Semester Ticket is valid for all local public transport offers throughout Germany (i.e. no IC, ICE or other long-distance train offers like FlixTrain!).
The option to travel to Groningen in the Netherlands remains available, as this is covered by a separate contractual agreement with the Dutch transport operator ‘Arriva’. However, the Campus Card is required as proof of a valid ticket for this journey, not the Deutschland Ticket!
In addition to that there are some connections to neighboring countries that can be used with the Deutschland Semester Ticket, as well as some exceptions on the usage of long-distance trains (e.g. IC connections Bremen ↔ Norddeich-Mole/Emden-Außenhafen). The Deutschland Semester Ticket is a personalized ticket and cannot be tranferred to other persons and is only valid if presented with an official photo ID. Furthermore, it is not possible to be accompanied by other personen, bring dogs or travel with bicycles on the Deutschland Semester Ticket.
The AStA is currently working on a new hardship provision in regards to the now missing option to be accompanied by childred Deutschland Semester Ticket.
The price of the Deutschland Semester Ticket, as specified in the contract, is 60% of the price of the regular Deutschlandticket. Future prices are depentent on the prices the “Koordinierungsrat Deutschlanticket” decides on.
Currently the Deutschland Semester Ticket costs €184,18 including the funding requirements for hardship cases and contract with Arriva
