Mission Statement
The lists representing the General Students’ Committee (AStA) are committed to fulfilling their responsibility towards the student body and prioritise the wellbeing of all students in their decisions regarding staff, projects and proposals.
The university groups Campus Grün Oldenburg, the Anti-Racist + Queer-Feminist List, the Left List and Uni Divers – GUM ensure the greatest possible transparency in their work within the AStA. The AStA actively campaigns against all forms of discrimination. This includes exclusion and structural disadvantage on the grounds of gender, age, social background, ethnic origin, disability, chronic illnesses and health conditions, as well as sexual orientation.
As the executive body of the constituted student body, the AStA must play an active and proactive role in addressing current challenges in higher education policy. To this end, a broad interest in (higher education) policy amongst students is desirable and should be actively encouraged, including by involving them in the work and activities of the AStA. Higher education policy should encourage participation. The system of departments and working groups, autonomous and independent departments, and faculty representative bodies is designed to ensure that even students without a background in higher education policy can get involved in the AStA, provided they uphold its principles.
