Campus Garden

Many students don’t have their own garden or balcony for gardening, but they’ve realized how good it is for us to spend time outdoors. In addition, urban gardening is becoming increasingly important because of its positive impact on biodiversity, environmental protection, and appreciation for natural resources. That’s why the Campus Garden, with an area of 108 m², is available to all students for gardening. Our program includes both hands-on projects and the cultivation of vegetables and flowering plants. In addition, participants can enjoy the harvest at the end of the gardening season.

So if you’re interested in learning about gardening, working outdoors, or simply looking to meet nice people from different social and cultural backgrounds to garden with, please get in touch with us or stop by during our office hours.

How can I get involved?

There are two ways you can get involved. First, you have the opportunity to be part of a student initiative and participate in gardening or hands-on projects. Practical work in the garden takes place primarily in the afternoon during the summer semester, by arrangement. In addition, there is the course “5.02.549 The Campus Garden: A Multi-Perspective Learning and Working Environment,” in which expertise is taught and the garden’s design is planned and implemented. The transition between these two components should be as seamless as possible. The seminar takes place exclusively during the summer semester, every Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This seminar is part of the professional development track, which, unfortunately, is only eligible for credit toward a dual-major B.A. program leading to a teaching degree. However, you also have the option to attend the seminar sessions without being an official participant in the seminar.

So if you’d like to be part of this project or have any questions about it, please get in touch.
